Oh man, is this rich.
Look here:

Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?
- Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.
- The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city.
- The Red Cross has been meeting the needs of thousands of New Orleans residents in some 90 shelters throughout the state of Louisiana and elsewhere since before landfall. All told, the Red Cross is today operating 149 shelters for almost 93,000 residents.
OK, so let's decipher this:
- The American Red Cross had materials - food, water, and sanitary supplies - staged in the area BEFORE Katrina hit.
- This material was available to the people at the Superdome and Convention Center before and immediately after the storm - before the levees broke!
- The Lousiana Homeland Security Department, which is a STATE AGENCY and under the direct command of the GOVERNOR, refused to allow the Red Cross into the areas hit by the storm with those supplies.
What is particularly galling is that immediately after the storm these very same officials were whining and complaining about a lack of response from the Federal Government - while the very aid they needed was sitting immediately outside of New Orleans and could have been immediately delivered to those in need!
The Governor and Mayor LIED to the American Public. Repeatedly. Intentionally. Even maliciously.
And as a direct consequence of their malfeasance and refusal to allow the supplies that were present, and were available to be given to those in need, people died.
NOW we have the truth.
So, Governor Blanco, what say you now that the truth is exposed, and you can no longer hide from what you did?
