I actually watched them both whine, complain and moan about how the federal government - the feds - were "falling down on the job" in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - blaming it all, of course on George Bush.
May I remind you of a few things here folks?
The state national guard is under the authority and control of the GOVERNOR. That'd be Ms. Blanco.
Said National Guard is under the Governor specifically because without a declaration by Congress or the President it is unlawful for the military to engage in civilian lawkeeping. The Posse Comitatus act was passed explicitly to prevent this sort of thing, and although there are exceptions to it, in order to invoke them one must first find that the other means of addressing civil order have failed.
In this case, they haven't even been deployed!
I know its convenient for Democrats, including Blanco, to simply blame Bush for everything. But its dishonest, and the people of this nation should not sit for it. Not for one second.
The people of New Orleans and Lousiana generally deserve better. They deserve what the Mayor of San Francisco said following the 1906 earthquake, when looters also emerged and began to plunder. His statement was this:
"Proclamation by the mayor
The Federal Troops, the members of the Regular Police Force and all Special
Police Officers have been authorized by me to KILL any and all persons found
engaged in Looting or in the Commission of Any Other Crime."
He then goes on to note that he has directed the gas and electric companies NOT to turn on gas or electricity until he orders them to do so, and warns them of potential dangers from damaged chimneys, etc.
So Governor Blanco - WHERE ARE YOUR GONADS?
The only proclamation I see on YOUR web page that has been published in relationship to looting is one calling for a day of PRAYER for August 31st!
Now folks, this is what you get when you elect Democrats.
Her solution to armed thugs looting, shooting, raping and killing - is prayer. NOT acute lead poisoning.
Oh, and complaining about how the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT hasn't done their job.
Hint to Governor Blanco from the cheap seats:
DO YOUR OWN DAMN JOB BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT OTHERS NOT DOING THEIRS!
