So the elections in Iraq are now over.
As expected, the Democrats are all over the airwaves, telling us that we shouldn’t “read too much into it.”
Oh really, Mr. Kerry (and Mr. Kennedy, and others)?
Let me ask you a question – just one.
What turn-out do you think we would have had in November if there had been terrorists threatening to blow up and shoot anyone who voted, and everyone who DID vote had their fingers marked with indelible ink so you could tell at a glance who had and who had not - and thus, who to shoot?
We might have seen 10% of those able to vote show up at the polls.
In Iraq, where they
DO NOT have Democrats running busses for old people on Oxygen, handing them “palm cards” so they can vote the ‘right way’ even if they can’t see, and they
DO NOT pay people to vote in crack, but we
DID have terrorists blowing people up and threatening to kill all who voted, they recorded a turn-out that makes our election statistics look like a bad joke!
This is an absolutely stunning success story.
Of course the next steps are hard. Now the Iraqis need to write a Constitution that actually implements a Representative Republic (No, it is not a Democracy – in a democracy minorities have no rights.)
Will they get there?
That remains to be seen.
However, what is no longer in dispute is that the terrorists lost Sunday. They lost in every possible way. Despite their threats of the streets running in a “river of blood”, they managed to kill just 38 people, 8 of them being their own suicide bombers. Not one major attack with serious loss of life was pulled off.
Let’s be honest here – these "insurgents" are a group of mealy-mouthed spineless despots who had their power ripped away from them, and rather than a stand-up fight, or joining in exercising their
peaceful right to choose their leaders, they have instead decided to kill women and children in an attempt to implement an Islamic Fundamentalist State in Iraq.
The people of Iraq resoundingly said no to these thugs on Sunday - and all they stand for.
Its time for the crybabies in this country, who have whined, bitched and moaned about our deposing Saddam,
to sit down and shut up.
Yes, Mr. Kerry and Mr. Kennedy, that means you - and others on the left.
It no longer matters that the "press" has radically misreported the story over in Iraq, showing only the bad and omitting all the good. Yes, there are people who have been killed. War is like that. But to ignore the infrastructure improvements, the schools being open and freedom on the march has been bordering on treason for the last two years. The Left, and the press, have had their run at influencing public opinion -
their day in the sun is over.
If there ever was a question about what the Iraqi population thought regarding our intervention over there, those questions have been answered. When you get an election turn-out that vastly surpasses that which we can muster here in our own Presidential Elections, even though the Left is screaming that Bush is somewhere North of the Anti-Christ himself, there is no longer doubt about what the people of that nation think of our having done what we did.
