What is wrong with you? We can argue all day long about political this and that. You can point blame on every admin and every level of government about past investment in levees etc.But in the disaster response - for which plenty of resources were there to be MANAGED (as you pointed out MANAGEMENT is in FEMA) - they were not, and it is clear from the timing and current record that the executive branch - which is headed by Bush, did not do its jobHow selecting a former commissioner of horses as head of FEMA qualifies as respect (as opposed to disdain) for government certainly baffles me. Note that FEMA has the word "EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT" in it, not horse/lawyer/friend of bush management. You would think the head would be a respected "emergency manager" at the least.Regardless of your belief in big-governement programs, or funding of FEMA, it does exist today. So until someone like you manages to create the every-republican for themselves society and government you crave, it is stupid not to have the best manage it.

Anonymous! Do you have such faith in your commentary that you choose not to put your name to it?As for FEMA, again, you didn't even read the original post upon which you opined. Please go back and do so. President Bush asked - several times - for permission to override the separation of governmental powers - giving FEMA the ability to do what the State Government either could not or would not. That request was refused - repeatedly. It is not FEMA's - or any other element of the federal government's - responsibility to do a job when they are unable to do so as a consequence of separation of power, and a state government that tells the feds to bugger off when they request permission to override that separation.
