Back on March 4th of last year I opined on the coming fiscal meltdown of America. You can read about it
here if you’d like.
In the intervening year, a number of things have happened that have made clear just how close to the precipice we really are. Let’s run down the list, and see if we can get people a bit riled up.
- The US Senate appears hell-bent on passing a bill that would legalize most of the illegal invaders (called “immigrants” by some) who are already here, and would open the floodgates to millions more. How many millions? Depending on which version of the Senate legislation you care to look at it, according to TownHall a Heritage Foundation Study found the number is either 100 million or 66 million new Americans in the next 20 years. Either number is a stunner – we’re talking about anywhere from a 20% to 33% growth in our population!
- There are those who claim that these invaders are helping us. Uh, no. This invasion (and that’s exactly what it is, folks) is all for the benefit of Mexico. These people send home $20 billion dollars (tax free, of course, since they’re being paid under the table in the US!) annually – which is more than Mexico makes from its oil sales and is much more than they make from tourism. In five Mexican states the money sent home exceeds that of the locally generated GDP. Ten percent of the Mexican population now lives in the United States. Guess why? The corruption in Mexico’s government makes it damn near impossible for people to make a decent living there.
- Mexico’s laws are nowhere near as “nice” as ours when it comes to immigrants. Think you could cross the border and just go get a job there? Think again. Your labor and presence isn’t wanted down there, and they bar you – by law – from thousands of jobs, including civil service positions such as firefighting! Oh, as a foreign national you can’t own land (in any place where you’d want to) either. Why is it that we’re so nice to their people when these folks are so nasty to ours again?
- We have done exactly nothing to solve our energy problems. Yet we have five times the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia in shale deposits out west (on Federal Land) and an amount equal to the reserves of Iran under the waters off our nation from the east coast to California. Yet with the exception of a few little places – Mississippi, Lousiana and Alabama – there is no drilling. Why? Because left wing whack jobs sustained by the US Congress won’t allow it. This – and a real solution to our energy problem – was detailed right here. WAKE UP AMERICA!
- The meltdown numbers here have gotten worse, of course. Medicare’s long-term obligation has grown massively with the new Federal Entitlement in the form of the Prescription Drug Benefit, so those numbers are a bit out of date. Better add a few tens of trillions more to the pot. Heh, its only money, right?
How close is the apocalypse for the United States?
About 20 years out.
If we’re lucky.
See, all these immigrants that we propose to let in this nation will, of course, want to drive cars. They will want to have homes, and will want them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They will consume electricity, natural gas, gasoline and all of the other forms of energy that we as Americans gobble up.
Of course the Chinese and Indians (from India, natch) are also building
their economies. Their energy consumption will surpass ours in the next year or two, and continue to grow. China, just to remind everyone, has more than a billion people living in it, which means that with an energy demand that even begins to approach ours they could gobble up 2-3x what we do. Between China and India they have close to 10 times our population – and their economies are about where ours were in the 1800s in terms of energy consumption. It’s not going to stay that way for long.
There’s one small problem with all this growth – there isn’t enough oil available on the world markets to sustain it.
China, by the way, isn’t ignorant of this. They have started to negotiate
hard for oil leases in other nations, rightly recognizing that this is a big problem that they need to solve or their economy is likely to come to a screeching halt in the near future. Unfortunately for us the amount of oil available from OPEC is finite and as China negotiates for these long-term arrangements we may be shut out. Some of those governments – Venezuela for example – are very friendly to communism – and not so friendly towards our capitalist system. This bodes ill for our long-term energy stability.
If we do not first
bar US resources from being shipped outside our borders and
then start drilling to make ourselves
completely energy independent within the next 10 to 15 years, along with shutting down the
flood of invaders crossing our borders you will not need a new car or boat.
Instead you will need several shotguns, a hardened place to live on a hundred acres of land (upon which you will grow enough to survive), enough ammunition to keep all the invaders who want your food at bay and several cases of soap – so you can take a bath. Oh, you’ll need a horse or two as well – so you can get around (it’s hard to run a car with no gasoline!)
Better wake up America. I know this sounds harsh, and perhaps that scenario is a bit overblown – but in reality its not
that far off from what we could be facing.
Don’t expect the politicians to give a damn – they haven’t up until now. Medicare, Social Security, energy policy – all utterly unsustainable things that they’re well aware of and yet refuse to act on, all because “the next election” is all that matters.
The cliff we
will fall off of 20 years from now isn’t important to them. It might not be important to you, if you’re old enough.
But I bet its important to your kids.
