Ok, so my previous blog entries (which I had the temerity to forward to my Rep and Senators) has drawn some response.
May I ask politely – what are you folks who claim to represent me smoking over there in Washington?
Let’s address a few things that Mr. Nelson, in particular, said right now:
“We also need to create a guest worker program that provides a path to legal status for those who qualify and play by the rules and deports those who do not. Playing by the rules means paying your taxes, keeping a job and learning English.”
Mr. Nelson and Mr. Martinez, with all due respect, would you two quit lying to me?
You both voted “Yea” on S2611, as amended, two days after Mr. Nelson penned a letter to me (a link to which can be found
here.)
Let me list for you, and the other Senators who have been lying through their teeth on this issue, where you fall short between what you
say and what you
do.
- You claim that playing by the rules means “paying your taxes.” S.2611 provides the following things which do not comport with your claims:
- Currently-illegal immigrants are required to pay only 2 or 3 years of their back taxes out of five. Can I please have an exemption so that I don’t need to pay my taxes half the time? Were any of us (that is, US Citizens) to do that we’d all be sitting in a federal prison.
- Illegal immigrants are forgiven the use of fraudulent Social Security Numbers. For the rest of us, that crime is punishable by a $250,000 fine.
Playing by the rules certainly means not engaging in criminal activity, right? Yet illegal immigrants are allowed
three misdemeanor convictions before they are barred. Not three
charged offenses, three adjudications. Let me remind the Senator that
many originally charged felonies are plea-bargained down to misdemeanors – yet the original offense was indeed worthy of the felony charge.
So I can rob two stores, commit two felonious assaults, or even get caught sleeping with a 14 year old – so long as I can plea-bargain the original charge down to a misdemeanor – it’s ok and I can stay in the US?You say that we need to secure our borders, including cutting edge technology.
Yet the bill you voted for and passed includes a provision that before we can build one single mile of new fence we must get the approval of the Mexican Government! We must ask Mexico before we can build a fence on
OUR soil?! You’ve got to be kidding me!
You say that we need to enforce our existing laws? Where is the money to enforce sanctions against employers who hire illegal aliens? I ran a company
for more than ten years including the period after the
last immigration fiasco. I was required to report all new hires immediately to the government.
The only use that data was ever put to was to find “deadbeat dads”! It requires no special skill to data match here – if someone reports a hire with a duplicate or invalid social security number, simply send ICE to
both employer’s addresses at 9:00 AM the next morning. Either there is an error or you’re going to arrest one illegal alien. Simple, fast, easy. Make the data reporting a requirement within 24 hours via online web page with a fax of copies of the documents (the online form gives you a confirmation number that must be put on the faxed-back page – make that cover sheet machine readable and the entire thing can be automated!) Now if you have someone playing games you can bust them in hours – and send the illegal aliens HOME.
YOUR BILL INCLUDES NOT ONE THIN DIME TO ACTUALLY ENFORCE EXISTING LAWS!We the people are fed up Mr. Nelson, Mr. Martinez, Mr. Boyd and others. We’ve had it with the outright lies being fed to us by the Senate. You passed a bill that
forgives felonious activity in the form of both misuse of social security numbers and willful refusal to pay taxes while not even requiring
full restitution to be made for those acts – say much less punishment!
On top of that you want to make Illegal Immigrants able to claim the Earned Income Credit (EIC), allow them Social Security benefits, including survivor’s benefits, when their payment history either cannot be verified or was based on fraudulent data (who says they’re telling the truth NOW about what number(s) they used?), force in-state tuition to be given to the children of these illegal immigrants who are not citizens, and a whole host of other outrageous acts.
All of this is contained in the bill Mr. Nelson and Mr. Martinez voted for.
You may think that America did not read the text of your bill.
You’d be wrong. You may think we’re not watching
. I assure you that we are, and that our votes come November will
fully reflect whether you are
honest with us as Americans.
We’ve had it with the
lying and the
fraud – and not just by illegal aliens.
We’re tired of
you lying to us too.
Protect our borders and enforce existing law. Put those employers who hire illegal aliens out of business and shut down the illegal labor market.
Once you’ve done
that, we can talk about a Guest Worker program.
But not until we see you keep your promise on the borders and law enforcement. There’s a 20 year history that says you’re lying – AGAIN.
